2009 DeNovo Award: We Have a Winner
The Very Latest: Each year it is our labor of love to choose from among a diverse array of outstanding manuscripts seeking the best new voices we can find. This year the number of submissions (106) held steady from previous years, but the overall quality of the final twenty or so manuscripts was more outstanding than ever. We took our time, carefully assessing the merits of each and every poetry manuscript before finally making the tough calls and sending the list of finalists on to this year's 2009 DeNovo Judge. Jeffrey Knorr, in turn, took his time completely reading through and assessing the finalists. It was no easy task, and we thank him for his time, energy and generous spirit in how carefully he read and assessed each manuscript. All of them deserve publication somewhere. We just wish we had the resources to take on more.
Congratulations to Sara Burge, whose manuscript, Eternal Return, was chosen from a compelling list of finalists for the 2009 DeNovo Award. Stay tuned for a book release date of early fall 2010.
