Submission Policy

While we've never charged a reading fee to consider manuscripts during our Open Reading Period, the current economic times are affecting how many books we're able to publish. We invite writers who send in manuscripts during this period to consider using the Paypal button below to send along a tax-deductible donation (most are choosing $5-10), though this will in no way affect how your manuscript is considered. Every submission is carefully considered and read by more than one editor. Literary merit is always our primary interest, first and foremost.

From February 1 - Dec 1 of each year, C&R will consider submissions of the following:

***Nonfiction (primarily memoirs and essay collections, up to 200 pages)

***Novels (up to to 250 pages)

***Short story collections (up to 200 pages)

***Nonfiction (inspirational, creativity, education, pop culture) is considered through out Illumis Books imprint only
***Though we used to accept unsolicited poetry submissions throughout our reading period, we now only consider first books of poetry through our annual De Novo contest and other books of poetry by invitation only

We welcome new and early career writers, though the reality is that competition here is quite fierce–we accept less than 1% of manuscripts received.

Unpublished fiction and nonfiction writers are welcome to submit manuscript at any time, though we accept less than 1% of manuscripts received.

Because C&R is a green company, we are seeking ways to reduce our environmental impact. To keep with this mission, we prefer not to see hard copy manuscripts. Please send all manuscripts and/or proposals as attachments (.doc, .docx, or .pdf) to Chad Prevost, Editor, at crpress_org (at) yahoo.com. If you choose to submit material for the Illumis imprint, please note that in the subject line.
